Kindle Highlights from The Emperor’s Soul by Brandon Sanderson

Somehow, I missed the fact that The Emperor’s Soul was a novella, and thus much shorter than I was expecting. In any case, it didn’t tie too much into Elantris as I was hoping, but that’s okay.

It was a focused, intimate show of a new magic system. It didn’t seem quite as complexly explained as the previous, nor used as much since it focused on a single project. I would have liked to get more out of both the story and magic system. It was interesting enough, but the plot felt a little shaky.

Quote-wise, they were great little life tid-bits regarding patience and getting through daunting times. It was good for me to have had these right now :)

Kindle Highlights from Elantris by Brandon Sanderson

Typical Sanderson awesomeness. I liked Elantris a lot for its triple plot mixing. I knew what was happening here, there and over there and how they related. When the characters figured it out? YESSSS!!!

Kindle Highlights from Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson

At the end of 2014, I started the Mistborn Trilogy. It was fun, it was fantasy, and I enjoyed the magic! I couldn’t wait to keep reading and would just plow through tons at a time.

I don’t think I’m too picky of a reader and if it keeps my interest, I’m going to call it good. If it doesn’t, I probably won’t read enough to bother writing about it :)

As it turns out, the next few books I’ve read (and “read” via Audible..which means no highlights) were Sanderson books. I could probably read his work for at least a year straight and have no issue with that.

There were a LOT of highlights on this because this list is from all three books :)

Kindle Highlights from The Round House – Louise Erdritch

We read The Round House for our work Book Club. There were some pretty intense topics and topics from a 13-year-old boy’s mind I could have gone without knowing. I somehow managed to read it really fast, which means it was a gripping page turner.

I’m pretty sure I have the most worthless thoughts/mini-reviews on books. This is probably why I don’t review things. I tend to like everything! But whatever because I like Kindle highlights.

Kindle Highlights from Packing for Mars – Mary Roach

Packing for Mars was both informative and hilarious! It touched on all those things about space travel that the average person doesn’t think about. Then, when you do, you’re like..wait. How does..whaaaat. It was awesome!

I had the pleasure to meet Mary Roach and get my book signed, years ago. You got it.. I re-purchased the Kindle edition, and finished the book. OOPS. Well, better late than never!

Kindle Highlights from Warbreaker – Brandon Sanderson

Warbreaker was a fun fantasy, not difficult read. I liked that it didn’t just give away everything to the reader at once. We learned about things WITH the characters instead of cringing at their actions and cursing them for not seeing the signs just because we know about them. Of course, since we’re reading multiple sides of the story, we know. But I think Sanderson does a decent job keeping readers holding on ;)

I’ll probably go for Mistborn sometime in the nearish future!

Kindle Highlights from The Alchemist – Paulo Coelho

Earlier, I mentioned that I kinda wanted to post up the highlights I make in Kindle books. I finished reading The Alchemist a little over a month ago. It was an easy read with a lot of little reminders to not get down on yourself about life, live your dreams and maintain a positive outlook. I liked it and would recommend it for those things :)

Here are my highlights!

Kindle Highlights from The Pact by Jodi Picoult

This was an interesting story. Moments in The Pact was definitely relatable to my later teenage self, but, well, different.

We go through those teenager feelings even when things are okay. The adults don’t “get it”. Except we do, and then forget how serious it felt at the time. This book brought me back to my own teenage pains. While they’re not years I ever want to think about again, it helped me to gain some more acceptance over them.
